   Christmas  Coding  Convention,  held in  Holland  just  before
   Christmas?
...it  has been made ready fairly quickly,  as we had  sufficient
   stuff to put on the disk for it?
...the  music  in  this  issue  was  done  by  The  Mind  of  The
   Quartermass Experiment?
...he  is  a new talent on the field of  music,  who  deserves  a
   chance  to  have his incredible products spread all  over  the
   globe (ahem)?
...he is Dutch?
...this is altogether even more remarkable?
...it  was  also  quite handy because we  lacked  the  energy  to
   continously  and  vigorously kick Jochen Hippel's ass  to  get
   some music out of him?
...I have recently,  by the way, also joined the elite fraternity
   of the Quartermass Experiment?
...I  am very proud of this,  as my fellow members are  all  very
   inspired people?
...the Coding Convention was a big success?
...over 120 people eventually turned up?
...each and every detail of the (sometimes shocking) truth can be
   read in the real-time article elsewhere in this issue?
...the  whole real-time department of this issue sums up to  well
   over 200 Kb of text?
...this is not bad for a mere 4.5 days of writing,  especially if
   one  takes into consideration that we already thought  we  had
   written  quite  a lot during the Norway Quest one year  ago  -
   250 Kb, but in 10 days?
...we  at  ST  NEWS  are very proud  at  this  new  world  record
   (well... we have reason to believe it may be one)?
...someone at the Convention (a Frenchie, I think it was) paid me
   with  an  OLD  Dutch  100 guilder bill  when  he  bought  some
   Thalion merchandise?
...I now have 100 Dutch guilders LOSS due to that?
...I can't exchange this bill anywhere (not even in Holland)?
...this ST NEWS disk does not contain as much actual documents as
   you were used from us in the last couple of issues?
...you  will,  however,  also notice a "PROGRAMS" folder that  is
   bulging with some interesting stuff?
..., for starters, all the 3.5 Kb demos are present in there?
...we  are  very  proud of them (well....except  maybe  for  TNS'
   entry...)?

...the winning 'big' demo,  however,  can be found on ULM's "Dark

...this was written by Manikin and Oxygene of The Lost Boys - for
   the sole purpose of pissing off Inner Circle?

   another  folder  that  contains Jeff  Minter's  "Defender  II"

...THIS IS OF COURSE THE BEST NEWS TO BE HEARD IN TWO YEARS?
...there are supposed to be twelve songs on this album (or it may
   be that this is the amount of tracks they recorded,  of  which
   some may be scrapped)?
...some  of the song names are "Enter Sandman",  "Sad but  True",
   "Through the Never", "Don't Tread on me" and "The Unforgiven"?
...it will not be produced by Flemming Rasmussen?
...an Italian label called Red Line is launching 'bootleg' CDs by
   the dozen?
...stuff even includes Malmsteen,  Metallica and of course  lotsa
   Deep Purple?
...the  Deep Purple one (which I mentioned above) is  VERY,  VERY
   GOOD?
...the  Malmsteen one is a CD version of the concert featured  on
   the "Rising Force Live '85" video?
...the Metallica one is of loathsome quality?
...Metal  Church  also launched a new CD  recently,  called  "The

...the Lynx II (the standard Lynx but smaller,  looking more like
   a Gameboy) is said to cost $99 once it will be available?
...this  issue  of  ST NEWS again has  a  somewhat  revolutionary
   hidden article (of some sort)?
...it  was written after the consumption of one bottle  of  Apple
   wine   (care  of  Relayer),   one  bottle  of  Rum  (care   of
   Overlanders),  half a litre of Vodka and a bit of Whisky while
   watching a Napalm Death "Live Corruption" video?
...the article is as obscene and stupid as you can possible get?
..."Highlander II" is a shit film?
...the  only things that are good about it are the hero's  female
   and some of the special effects?
...the story is really bad and incoherent?
..."Kindergarten Cop", another film, however, is much better than
   its title assumes?
...it stars Arnold Schwarzenegger in quite a nice role?
...the  first (and last) game I ever designed at Thalion  is  out
   now?
...it is called "A Prehistoric Tale" and has become,  though  not
   original  or  brilliant or anything of  that  kind,  a  nicely
   playable little platform game?
...review ratings are ranging from 23% to 77%?
...Stefan will probably review it in the next issue of ST NEWS?
..."Lemmings"  will  very likely turn out to be the game  of  the
   nineties?
...it is the most brilliant and original plot since "Populous" in
   1989?
...I  know a couple of people who have already played it  on  the
   Amiga (ahem) and they played it for days and days in a row?
...I cannot wait to get my hands on an ST version?

...some  titles  are  "Monster Business" (a  platform  game)  and
   "Lethal XCess" (a shoot-'em-up)?
...these titles are not definite yet?
...the fabulously fast and notorious alternative operating system
   "Kaosdesk" is now for sale officially?
...this is really a very good operating system version?
..."GfA Basic" version 4.0 is rumoured to be released later  this
   year?
...I  have  but recently discovered the "Dragonlance"  series  of
   books by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman?
...they are VERY good,  and much more fun to read even than "Lord
   of the Rings" if you ask me?
...the stories may be soemwhat inconsistent here and there  (yeah
   yeah, Lucas, so what), but the atmosphere is brilliant?
...you should not miss this if you like reading fantasy?
...Jez  San's  Argonaut is now about to launch  their  'fabulous'
   flight sim, "Hawk"?
...we reported about this in ST NEWS Volume 4 Issue 4, almost two
   years ago?
...the program has now already taken four years to develop?
...it  is supposed to be released between September and  December
   of this year now?
...its name has changed to "Birds of Prey"?
...Millenium  is  doing a sequel to "James Pond"  which  will  be
   called "Robocod"?
...I  surely hope Steve Bak and Chris Sorrell will  make  another
   jolly good game of it?
...a demo I saw looked promising?
...Millenium will further do "Demolition Derby and "Fu Manchu  In
   The Way Of The Shuriken" soon?
...I also got to know some nice cheats for "James Pond"?
...you've got to type in "MR2" to activate them?
...you will then get a helmet on your head?
...the lowest line of keys (Z,X,C..etc.) will bring you to levels
   1 to 9?
...'D' brings you either to the next level or kills enemioes?
...'P' lets you dance,  'S' lets you shake,  and the upper row of
   keys (excluding ESCAPE give you nice little extras?
...this  "Did  you  know that..." column is a  lot  shorter  than
   usual?
...this  is  because of the relatively short time we  had  before
   finishing this issue?
...we still hope it was not entirely uninteresting?
