THE AUTHOR
Richard Karsmakers, born in Holland almost exactly 20 years
before the virus was first discovered on the ST, never studied
mathematics or informatics or anything related to computer
science at all. Hard core computer use, that started in 1984 when
his parents bought him his first computer, resulted in the basis
for what would later result in various small utility programs, a
Public Domain disk magazine called "ST NEWS" and the "Ultimate
Virus Killer" program with this accompanying "Ultimate Virus
Killer Book".
Written from a user's point of view, he makes an attempt at
explaining everything you may want to know about computer viruses
and associated topics: From general system build-up and virus
classification right up to virus disassembly tips and accurate
virus symptom descriptions. Add to that the fact that many
anecdotes and a small dose of human interest have been added, the
"Ultimate Virus Killer Book" can be an indispensible guide in
your battle against computer viruses.
Richard Karsmakers is not (yet) married, does not live in Milton
Keynes (not even in England, as a matter of fact), is not
exceptionally large nor small nor spotty, does not breed
carnivorous plants for a hobby as he considers them boring, has
not (yet) had any virus programmers for breakfast, and generally
hasn't done much that would seem to be of any interest here. He
is an MA of English and is currently trying to get qualified as a
teacher of English at Utrecht University, the Netherlands.
