DID YOU KNOW THAT.... by Richard Karsmakers
...I will this time again try to make a long column?
...there is a seemingly very good bulletin board in West Germany?
...it's called "Beyond the Stars" (BTS) and handles ST as well as
MacIntosh?
...the sysop's name is "Ataribus"?
...the number is (West Germany) 069-6313879?
...it runs on 300/1200 baud, 8/N/1, and supports XModem
downloads?
...Stefan Posthuma is currently working on "The Professional
ArtiST"?
...this will be the sequel to "The ArtiST +"?
...it handles options like 'Free Block', 'Block Freeform',
'Different Picture Types', 'Screen select' and much more?
...The Exceptions are currently working on a new demo?
...this program should out-do all previous TEX products?
...it will contain ALL Rob Hubbard tunes ever done on the
Commodore 64, border scrolling, many graphixx and more?
...it will be half-meg compatible?
...it will contain 512 Kb of code and data on a single sided
disk?
...it will be called "B.I.G. Demo"?
...it is suppose to be ready within two months?
...you will be able to read all the interesting details about
this project in the "ST Software News" column?
...this demo will be the best demo ever conceived on a hobby
micro?
...I will try to get my hands on it as fast as possible, so that
it can be spread through the PD very effectively and fast?
...we almost ran into space problems with ST NEWS?
...we almost got a little bit too many articles?
...I did not want to sacrifice this issue's picture for that?
...you may now call me a naughty boy?
...the PCW Show (In London at the end of September) saw many
companies announcing programs for the near future?
...not many programs were actually launched there?
...Mirrorsoft has recently launched an upgrade of their desktop
publishing program: "Fleet Street Publisher" Version 1.1?
...it sells at £125 (upgrade from version 1.0 at £20)?
...it offers many new features?
..."Fleet Street Publisher" version 1.1 now also supports
Postscript, HP and Atari SLM804 laserprinters?
...text effects include bold, bold italic, slanted italic,
outline, shaded outline, mirror, upside down or a combination
of these?
...further goodies include auto/manual hyphenation, variable
character widths, 300 dpi, and all 'old' features?
...laser printer drivers can be bought seperately at £20 each?
...they have an "ST-Scan" interface (for Canon scanner" at
£249,95?
...this allows you to scan 300 dpi pictures?

at the Wellington Atari Computer Enthusiast?
...I wish him a lot of success with the 'down under' distribution
of ST NEWS?
...someone called Frank Schoof from Germany has had some problems
trying to let a program of his be marketed there?
...it is a drawing program called "Migraphic"?
...a full review will be included in the next issue of ST NEWS?
...he is also interested in starting a PD disk magazine in
Germany, called "ST Welt"?

working together with him on the magazine) can contact him?
...his address is: Frank Schoof, Elpke 5, D-4800 Bielefeld 1,
West Germany?
...his drawing program costs less than DM 40,-?
...someone called "The Iron Maiden" at Atari Benelux has been
fired?
...she actually was Mr. de Graaf's personal assistant?
...it was thus quite impossible to get through to this famous
(see the first ST NEWS pop poll) with her there?
...she now works for Hotline?
...Tako-Jan Gosen of ST Club Eindhoven probably won't like this,
according to certain things he has said of her at a platform
meeting?
...Atari Benelux' hardware man, Mr. van Ispen, was recently
caught in the act?
...he actually turned out to have a Philips P-2000 'computer' at
home?
...Atari Benelux should consider casting off this traitor soon?
...my keyboard was already starting to feel sticky when I wrote
the word 'Philips' down, let alone the 'P-2000' (ough!)?
...I think Mr. van Ispen can make everything allright again by
ceremoneously destroying this 'computer' and letting the
pictures taken during that event be published on the front
covers all major Dutch (and maybe even international) Atari
magazines?
...I might even consider throwing in a digitized picture of the
event in ST NEWS?
...we were recently contacted by MVACE user group in Ohio, U.S.?
...I have asked them if they want to be our U.S. distributor?
...I hope that they will fall for the ST NEWS concept?
...I hope to be able to tell more about this in the next issue of
ST NEWS?
...and that's also the place where you'll have to read more
interesting titbits, because this is the end of this time's
column?
...I hope to see you again around December, in ST NEWS Volume 2
Issue 8?
'Till then!
