EDITORIAL - ST NEWS AND RECENT AND FUTURE CHANGES
When I started making ST NEWS about 15 months ago, I did
everything on my own. I did the writing, layout, spreading, and
whatever could be thought of. Lucky, some of the writing was
taken over soon by some people who understood specific subjects
better than I did, and ST NEWS thus became a project done by
several people - like it should be. But I still did all the
copying, telephoning, distributing, promoting and most of the
writing.
Because I think ST NEWS has to keep the quality it is displaying
at the moment, I felt I had to cast off some of the tasks that
had nothing to do with the actual ST NEWS concept - like the
Public Domain library. That's why it has now been taken over by
ST Club Eindhoven, a usergroup that currently has the largest and
most up-to-date PD library in Holland. The only disadvantage is
that you now must pay for your PD, which was for free uptill now
when you ordered it through me. But I found myself copying a
couple of hundred disks per week to people all over the world
and I knew I would simply not be able to keep up this mind-
killing work into the next schoolyear (a year of exams for me).
You'll find more details about ordering PD in the article about
the PD Library, elsewhere in this issue of ST NEWS. Only back-
issues of ST NEWS will be obtainable through me from now on!
But, as you could read in the title of this editorial column,
there are more changes due to arrive in the future. ST NEWS as a
whole will be cast off to ST Club Eindhoven as well, probably
starting at Januari 1st 1988. This means that they will also do
the promotion, distribution and copying. In fact, the only thing
I will then do is programming it, being the editor and still
writing a lot of the articles. That way I can concentrate on the
nice aspects of ST NEWS (writing and becoming more or less well
known) as well as on my final year in school. ST NEWS will still
be very much the same, but some more ST Club Eindhoven stuff will
undoubtedly be included as well. In fact, having a better
financial backing this way, ST NEWS will probably even get to be
better as time goes on.
I thought you needed to know this, so that you know what to
expect from ST NEWS in the future as out faithfull reader. I will
definately NOT stop, because I get far too much nice response to
this project and I still feel ST NEWS is a much needed item with
many people all over the world,
Sincerely,
Richard Karsmakers
