THE HIDDEN ARTICLE
As all other disk magazines seem to be mimicking us with this, I
actually considered it appropriate not to have a hidden article
in this issue - for the sake of originality. However, there was
certain stuff I (we) wanted to do that one cannot really put in
the menu bar anywhere (like stuff including filthy things, or
just very un-computer-related stuff).
One of the things that I'd like to confront you with this time
is the lyrics of a song called "Solitude" by Black Sabbath. The
first time I heard this song, I immediately felt that this was a
beautiful ballad - in spite of the fact that it was sung by Ozzy
'Why can't I sing' Osbourne, and recorded in 1971.
My name it means nothing
My fortune is less
My future is shrouded
In dark wilderness
Sunshine is far away
Clouds linger on
Everything I posses
Now they are gone
They are gone
They are gone
Oh where do I go to
And what can I do
Nothing can please me
Only thoughts are of you
You just left
When I begged you to stay
I've not stopped crying
Since you went away
You went away
You went away
The world is a lonely place
When you're on your own
'Guess I will go home
And sit down alone
Crying and thinking
Is all that I do
Memories I have
Remind me of you
Of you
Of you
Isn't it sad? Well, even writing down this text caused me to be
depressed. Just a sec'. I'm going to get de-depressed.
Sigh.
I feel better now.
If only I had such an eloquence with words. Alas I have none
(but you guessed right, I'm trying).
At least, this has been something else rather than the endless
load of Napalm Death, Metallica and Carcass lyrics we normally
spill at you.
But just to maintain a healthy balance, I think it is required
to have some of the standard lyrics as well. So that's why I
would like to present to you two complete sets of lyrics to
Napalm Death songs. The first are from a song called "You Suffer"
and the second of a song called "Dead".
You suffer but why?
Dead.
Thank you.
KRKKRAAAAAKKKK!
Excuse me?
MC68000 interrupt!
MC68000: This hidden article was total crap, mister!
WRITER: You've never been so right in your life.
MC68000: Oh. Well thanks.
End of first hidden article.
(Aren't you glad this was the easiest to find?)
No it ain't.
First, I would like to tell you something, dear readers.
In most of the previous issues containing hidden articles, we
had organised competitions: Whoever wrote to use first with the
solution to the hidden articles could win an OK prize.
PLEASE ALLOW ME TO TELL YOU THAT YOU ARE A BUNCH OF LAZY MOTHER
FUCKERS! NEVER HAS SOMEONE TAKEN THE TROUBLE TO SEND IN AN ANSWER
TO ONE OF THESE COMPETITIONS!!!
Excuse me there.
So there is no competition this time. Tough shit titties! This
is really disappointing for us, you know...
We may do another competition in the next issue.
So let's close this down with some more song lyrics (what else
is there to do in an article that's as crap as this actually
is?).
Behold the lyrics to Rush' "The Trees" (written by Neil Peart).
There is unrest in the Forest
There is trouble with the trees
For the Maples want more sunlight
And the Oaks ignore their pleas
And the trouble with the Maples
(And they're quite convinced they're right)
They say the Oaks are just too lofty
And they grab up all the light
But the Oaks can't help their feelings
If they like the way they're made
And wonder why the Maples
Can't be happy in their shade?
There is trouble in the Forest
And the creatures all have fled
As the Maples scream 'Oppression!'
And the Oaks, just shake their heads
So the Maples formed a Union
And demanded equal rights
'The Oaks are just too greedy
We will make them give us light'
Now there's no more Oak oppression
For they passes a noble law
And the trees are all kept equal
By hatchet,
Axe,
And saw...
Actually, when I just read the lyrics sheet of the album on
which "The Trees" is (a CD called "Hemispheres" where the artists
still have silly hairdos), I found a more interesting one. It's
called "Cygnus X-1 Book II" and (why not?) I thought I'd include
it as well. It's written by Neil Peart as well (the best text
composer of all).
I Prelude
When our weary world was young
The struggle of the Ancients first began
The Gods of Love and Reason
Sought alone to rule the fate of Man
They battled through the ages
But still neither force would yield
Their people were divided
Every sould a battlefield...
II Apollo Bringer of Wisdom
'I bring Truth, and Understanding
I bring Wit, and Wisdom fair
Precious gifts beyond compare
We can build a world of wonder
I cam make you all aware'
'I will find you food and shelter
Show you fire to keep you warm
Through the endless winter storm
You can live in grace and comfort
In the world that you transform'
The people were delighted
Coming forth to claim their prize
They ran to build their cities
And coverse among the wise
But one day the streets fell silent
Yet they knew not what was wrong
The urge to build these fine things
Seemed not to be so strong
The wise men were consulted
And the Bridge of Death was crossed
In quest of Dionysus
To find out what they had lost...
III Dionysus Bringer of Love
'I bring Love to give you solace
In the darkness of the night
In the heart's eternal light
You need only trust your feelings
Only Love can steer you right'
'I bring Laughter, I bring Music
I bring Joy, and I bring Tears
I will soothe your primal fears
Throw off those chains of Reason
And your prison disappears'
The cities were abandoned
And the forests echoed song
They danced and lived as brothers
They knew Love could not be wrong
Food and wine they had aplenty
And they slept beneath the stars
The people were contented
And the Gods watched from afar
But the winter feel upon them
And it caught them unprepared
Bringing wolves and cold starvation
And the hearts of men despaired...
IV Armageddon The Battle of Heart and Mind
The Universe divided
As the Heart and Mind collided
With our people left unguided
For so many troubled years
In a cloud of doubts and fears
Our world was torn asunder
Into hollow hemispheres
Some fought themselves, some fought each other
Most just followed one another
Lost and aimless like their brothers
For their Hearts were so unclear
And the Truth could not appear
Their spirits were divided
Into blinded hemispheres
Some who did not fight
Brought tales of old to light
My 'Rocinante' sailed by night
On her final fight
To the heart of Cygnus' fearsome force
We set out our course
Spiralled through that timeless space
To this immortal place
V Cygnus Bringer of Balance
I have memory and awareness
But I have no shape of form
Like a disembodied spirit
I am dead and yet unborn
I have passed into Olympus
As was told in tales of old
To the City of immortals
Marble white and purest gold
I see the Gods in battle rage on high
Thunderbolts across the sky
I cannot move, I cannot hide
I feel a silent scream begin inside
Then all at once the Chaos ceased
A stillness fell, a sudden peace
The Warriors felt my silent cry
And stayed their struggle, mystified
Apollo was astonished
Dionysus thought me mad
But they heard my story further
And they wondered, and were sad
Loklking down from Olympus
On a world of doubt and fear
It's surface splintered into
Sorry hemispheres
They sat awhile in silence
Then they turned at last to me
'We will call you Cygnus,
The God of Balance you shall be'
VI The Sphere A Kind of Dream
We can walk our road together
If your goals are all the same
We can run alone and free
If we pursue a different aim
Let the truth of Love be lighted
Let the love of Truth shine clear
Sensibility
Armed with sense and liberty
With the Heart and Mind united
In a single perfect Sphere
This is the real end of this hidden article.
Or isn't it?
Actually, the week before we got to finish this issue the new
Metallica CD came out that I couldn't resist copying some lyrics
off. So here you will find the lyrics to a song called "Sad But
True" (by Hetfield & Ulrich), effectively making us the first
disk magazine world wide to quote a song text off the fifth
Metallica album!
Hey
I'm your life
I'm the one who takes you there
Hey
I'm your life
I'm the one who cares
They
They betray
I'm your only true friend now
They
They'll betray
I'm forever there
I'm your dream, make you real
I'm your eyes when you must steal
I'm your pain when you can't feel
Sad but true
I'm your dream, mind astray
I'm your eyes while you're away
I'm your pain while you repay
You know it's sad but true
Sad but true
You
You're my mask
You're my cover, my shelter
You
You're my mask
You're the one who's blamed
Do
Do my work
Do my dirty work, scapegoat
Do
Do my deeds
For you're the one who's shamed
I'm your dream. make you real
I'm your eyes when you must steal
I'm your pain when you can't feel
Sad but true
I'm your dream, mind astray
I'm your eyes while you're away
I'm your pain while you repay
You know it's sad but true
Sad but true
I'm your dream
I'm your eyes
I'm your pain
I'm your dream
I'm your eyes
I'm your pain
You know it's sad but true
Hate
I'm your hate
I'm your hate when you want love
Pay
Pay the price
Pay, for nothing's fair
Hey
I'm your life
I'm the one who took you there
Hey
I'm your life
And I no longer care
I'm your dream, make you real
I'm your eyes when you must steal
I'm your pain when you can't feel
Sad but true
I'm your truth, telling lies
I'm your reason alibis
I'm inside open your eyes
I'm you
Sad but true
Now this is really, truly and honestly the end of this hidden
article. I can vouch for it.
