...the music in this issue has been conceived by Big Alec again?
...we   are   again  very  proud  to  offer  this   song   called

...it was originally written for the Mega Leif music  competition
   in Uppsala, Sweden, 1992?
...some of you might recall the music from "Maggie" issue 10?

Atari - General

...there  are rumours abounding about Atari re-entering the  home
   computer market?
...the  machine  with which they intend to do it  is  called  the
   Atari MicroBox?
...a  small  team  of developers is  allegedly  working  on  this
   machine  that may one day cause the "Power without the  price"
   slogan to echo through the halls of the world again?
...it is a mini tower with separate keyboard,  designed by  Apple
   people?
...it has a quadruple speed CD ROM standard, a 3.5" HD disk drive
   and two connectors for 17-key joypads in the tower?
...it  also  has  the  usual  amount  of  interface   connectors,
   including connections for video equipment, SCSI drives, modems
   and printers?
...the CPU is the Motorola 68060 at 50 Mhz?
...standard RAM is 8 Mb,  extendable to 128 Mb,  with an internal
   SCSI hard disk of 1 gigabyte?
...the Operating System will be TOS 5.0,  which is  multi-tasking
   and compatible with the ST and Falcon?
...the  dedicated  audio  and video chips  are  based  on  Jaguar
   technology?
...this includes the 64 bit RISC processor Tom for audio and  the
   Jerry DSP?
...Tom  is  a 208-pin chip which is actually a  complete  64  bit
   computer,  including a 64 bit DRAM memory controller, a 64 bit
   object processor,  a 64 bit graphics processing unit and a  64
   bit blitter?
...the DRAM memory controller is connected to 16 megabits (2 Mb)=
   fastpage-mode DRAM?
...the graphics processor works at 27 MIPS?
...Jerry  is a 144-pin DSP chip that is much faster than the  one
   in the Falcon?
...with  its 8 Kb zero waitstate memory it makes  possible  real-
   time stereo CD quality sound?
...there are 12 sound channels?
...the  quad  speed  CD ROM player can,  with  an  optional  MPEG
   module, play CDi feature films?
...any  VGA  monitor can be connected,  and screen  speeders  and
   additional graphic cards are supposedly no longer necessary?
...there  will be an optional 80486 DX2/66 card to allow for  MS-
   DOS compatibility, with a Pentium card in the pipeline?
...this sounds really interesting,  the first bit of good news to
   come out of Atari in years?
...I just hope it's not, as they say, a canard?
...this may be the case anyway?
...I  immediately  wrote  to  Atari  to  say  that  I  had   some
   suggestions for the proposed TOS 5.0?
...they  wrote  back with a short note saying that they  are  not
   contracting any home-computer-based projects?

Atari - Jaguar

...the Sega Saturn and Sony Playstation have arrived on the Dutch
   market?
...they are supported by extensive marketing campaigns, including
   TV adverts?
...they  cleverly  mix  actual screen footage  with  real  stuff,
   misleading the viewer in my opinion?
...it looks like the Jaguar is going to get a run for its money?
...below you can find the latest "Jaguar Update List", taken from
   the American online magazine "Atari Explorer Online"?
...it  should  tell you all you need to know  about  current  and
   forthcoming Jaguar released?

...Niclas Malmqvist (Tanis of TCB) got married on June 23rd 1995?
...his beloved is called Lotta?

...Stefan  is still having a blast of a time in  Canada,  working
   for Gray Matter on Sony Playstation, Sega Saturn and that kind
   of thing?
...he's been dating a girl called Connie since January this year?
...Gard  -  a.k.a.  The  Insanely Witty One -  has  also  started
   working at Gray Matter?
...Melanie, Stefan's "kid" sister, got married recently, too?
...she married long time boyfriend Craig,  and now lives in  Hong
   Kong where United Airlines have recently opened an office?
...Gard  is  now engaged to Bethani,  whom he met on the  net  on
   March 31st 1995?
...they intend to get married on August 10th 1996?
...this  date is so berserkedly special that I thought I'd  quote
   bit of the "press release" below,  the message that Gard  sent
   to all his friends on the Internet?

 "On  the  wonderful  day of August 24th  (the  sacred  day,  see
"Scriba  Communis  Responsi"  diskmagazine for  details  on  this
date),  I proposed to Bet, and she said yes. The wedding has been
set  to  497.9 days after we met on the net (which  was  an  hour
before midnight March 31st 1995 CET). The number was derived from
taking the Holy Number 24895 (yes it has changed,  I'll write  an
article on that later,  I have lots of proof and details on  what
was  wrong with 24892) and divide it by the number of  days  that
seperates our birthdays within the same year (50).  And for those
who  didn't  manage  all  these  numbers,  this  means  that  our
engagement will end in a wedding on August 10th 1996."

...I think it sounds a bit contrived, but I wish him all the best
   anyway?
...Richard  "Felice" Spowart,  yes,  of  "Maggie",  has  recently
   started writing for "Atari World"?
...it  seems "Atari World" is more and more getting to be a  very
   interesting magazine?
...it's  a  shame  I  can't  seem to  find  it  anywhere  in  the
   Netherlands?
...Froystein Hustadnes,  one of the Nutty Norwegians of  all,  is
   now also on the Internet?
...I really liked it when he contacted me?
...I hadn't heard from him in almost five and a half years?
