"Thou ancient, thou glorious, thou alpcrowned North, Where
freeborn and happy hearts are beating! We hail thee, thou
fairest of lands on the earth. Thy sun, thy skies, thy flow'ry
valleys greeting. Thy sun, thy skies, thy flow'ry valleys
greeting.
How proudly we dwell on thy great deeds of yore, What time
thy name was famed in story, Thy sons still are valiant and
brave as before: In thee I'll live and die, thou land of glory!"
Sweden's national hymn

HEAVY NORTHERN LIGHT THOUGHTS
by
Lars "controversial" Johansson
This article, along with several others collected here, was
written by our Swedish distributor, Lars Johansson. It's quie
weird in what I suppose is intellectually and artistically valid.
Love it or hate it, I think, it's all up to you if you want to
join the cavernous thoughts of Lars' consciousness or not.
# Essay no.1: Love #
Dedicated to someone we all know although her name may vary.

Aurora Borealis is a collection of essays. It is my intent that
one of these essays will be finished in time for each issue of ST
NEWS. Each article will deal with one topic. The subjects might
very well be: Alcohol, Religion, War, Racism, Money, Diseases,
The Meaning of Life, Parents, Train travel and so on. It will
deal with everyday issues. No less, no more. Enjoy or hate.

What is love? What is beauty? What? What? What? Well, Haddaway,
I'll tell you what love is. Just read this essay to its full
extent and you might learn something. Yeah? What time is love
then? Uhmm, you see, humm... Love can be any time. At 12 o'clock,
3 o'clock or 6 o'clock. AM and PM. Love can be wintertime or
summertime. Perhaps the most passionate love occurs in
springtime. That's what the myth says anyway. Love is when there
is something to love. Yep, that's it.
Question: What is love?
Answer: Love is when there is something to love.
Question: What time is love?
Answer: Love is when there is something to love.
Question: Is it love?
Answer: Yes, if there's something to love.
"You're no good for me. I don't need nobody.
Don't need noone. That's no good for me."
No good (start the dance) / Prodigy
You know that it's love when...
...you see her when your eyes are shut
...you feel her in your dreams
...you can't think of anything but her
...your hormones are playing games with you
...you sweat so much that you get a hot shower
...your heart beats like a mad drummer who
can't play any rhythm
...you don't care about your money
...you idealize the fortunate/unfortunate person
...you just feel it
...there is something to love
Well, enough shrink stuff. It's time for plain inspiration and
emotional finger-pushing on the keyboard. It feels good to type
something positive for a change. I mean, the world is more or
less covered with trash and scumbags. Only love can heal this
wounded earth crust. I'm starting to write like a priest (or
besserwisser) so I'd better tell you some of my experiences. I
bet Freud would like what you're about to read.
"The average girl would rather have beauty than
brain because she knows the average man can see
much better than he can think."
Ladies Home Journal
Luv truths
----------
Love and beauty are two flexible things that change like plasma.
One thing is obvious, love is a strange and treacherous emotional
state of mind. Someone that you've considered uninteresting and
not at all attractive may become the opposite due to some
circumstances. Charm makes people beautiful. So does kindness,
helpfulness, thoughtfulness and popularity (the last one being
rather tragic). The ONE thing that gives people extra beauty is
charm. Suddenly the uninteresting and not especially attractive
person is interesting and appealing. Then again, some girls never
get attractive to me. I bet they aren't at all sorry about that,
they've got lots of other admirers. I mean, it's a big world out
there. There are lots of reasons to fall in love with a gal. She
might be cute, beautiful, appealing, nice, friendly, helpful and
you'll never know what. Sometimes you fall in love with love, if
you know what I mean. You don't love the woman, you love the
feeling of love, although you're not aware of it. Did you like
that theory, Sigmund? One thing is obvious though. Beauty is not
necessarily the same as helpfulness, charm and personality.
"Beauty will save the world."
Fyodor Dostoevsky
There's a notorious saying here in Sweden that you can
intoxicate yourself to beauty. If you try that, don't get too
beautiful. You might get a hangover! I would advise you to use
your charisma to its full extent instead. Don't forget that
passion nourishes the senses. Emotions of devotion gives people
pleasure and a deeper knowledge of the meaning of life. As a
bonus you get a spiritual trip.
"It is only shallow people who do not judge by
appearances. The true mystery of the world
is the visible, not the invisible".
Oscar Wilde
I think it's a damn lie when people say that they do not judge
people by their looks. I don't think that one single person lives
together with someone that he/she thinks is ugly. Ugly is one
thing, less beautiful is another. What I mean is that beauty
isn't the same to everybody, if you thought that. I don't think
that walking square ribs are beautiful. All you bleedin' model
agencies, skinny isn't the same as beautiful! Got that, you
goddamn thickos? Humankind is one helluva mess. Multiplicity is a
must. If you would think that everybody is beautiful then nobody
would be beautiful! I have to be honest with you, dear readers.
My dream date is not a walking square rib nor a weight watcher.
But whattaheck, life's a joke. I mean, I can change. The earth
has changed its outfit several times. It would be a miracle if I
wouldn't change. I will get grey hair for God's sake! I will get
wrinkles. I won't become a piece of plastic like a certain
Jackson has become. Ugliness can't be destroyed, but beauty can.
That's a poor consolation, but at least it's something. There's
no doubt that beauty means a lot. It's hypocrisy to say that it
doesn't. I appreciate beauty, and so do you. Don't lie!
"She eyes me like a Pisces when I am weak
I've been locked inside your heart-shaped box for a week
I was drawn into your magnet tar pit trap..."
Heart-shaped box / Nirvana
The greatest love can most probably be obtained thanks (?) to a
little bit of mystery. You would of course trade the abstract
mystery for actual magic, but I think that mystery can be worth
quite a lot. Mystery is when you fall in love with someone and
that person disappears. The earlier she disappears the better
(?). If someone disappears when you've got strong feelings for
her then those feelings will grow and the selected will be
glorified by you. Yep, that must be the truth. Or what do you
say, Freud?
"Love is not sex."
Captain Hollywood
I'm not so sure about that. I can't believe what bull some
countries defend. Sex is not dirty, it's one way to prove ardent
love. Sex has gotten a lot of its bad reputation due to all the
perverted and deranged rapists. But I think that the church is to
blame as well. I'd like to ask the priests: 'How could Adam and
Eve start the development of humankind? Did they build children
out of Lego bricks?'. It's natural to eat. It's natural to sleep.
It's natural to have sex. But then again, everything that is
worth living for is either expensive or 'forbidden' (or both).
Nothing that the youth of today devote themselves to seems to be
alright according to the putrid besserwissers. Let me repeat my
own rule: Do whatever you like as long as it doesn't hurt
anybody. If you follow that rule then you're entitled to scream
'Mind your own bloody business, you moron!' at ignorant people.
-Inferiority is a damn tragedy-
Don't let anybody let you down, you're just as good as anyone
else. Have you heard that before? Well, this won't be the last
time either. The greatest problem with luv n' relationships is
inferiority. Who the f**k invented that thing? God? Reagan?
Stalin? Just remember that you're the best.
"With a face like this you won't break any hearts and
thinking like that won't make any friends.
Screw that, forget about that.
I don't wanna think about anything like that.
Screw that, forget about that.
I don't wanna know about anything like that.
I've got nothing to do, but hang around and get
screwed up on you.
I've got nothing to do, but hang around and get
screwed up on you".
Screamager / Troublegum / Therapy?
"You know, I even think it's kinda cute the way
you poison my coffee just a little each day.
I still remember the way that you laughed,
when you pushed me down the elevator shaft"
You don't love me anymore / Weird "Al" Yankovic
Take care out there!
I'd like to thank some American fashion TV-show for some of the
true and valuable quotes. I must also thank the actual people
that I've quoted in here.
